Participation on the Webinar Land subsidence: Latest advances in science and good practices around the world

The series, titled “Frontiers of Global Water Science,” featured distinguished experts from the UNESCO Water Family, as well as international partners, who discussed critical water challenges and innovations. The webinar highlighted the frontiers of the science of land subsidence, offering a snapshot of the global situation, the consequences caused by land subsidence, and best practices.

WSDAC delegates Dr. Željka Rudić, Dr. Vesna Tripković, and Dr. Brankica Majkić-Dursun participated online. Dr. Pietro Tanatini (Chair of UNESCO LaSII) presented a snapshot of the global situation and the UNESCO Land Subsidence International Initiative. After his introductory speech, participants were

introduced to four case studies: North Manila & the Mekong Delta, Mexico City and other cities along the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, the Indonesian Archipelago, and Shanghai, China.

It was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the latest advances in Land Subsidence Science.
