The 6th DeepTech & Innovation Online School held from 3–7 November 2025

From 3 to 7 November 2025, the sixth edition of the DeepTech & Innovation Online School was held as an international online programme featuring practice-oriented lectures on new technologies and innovation across various fields. This year’s school, titled “DeepTech & Innovation – Sustainable Product Design in a Digital Age”, was organized within the A-SIDE project supported by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), the EIT Higher Education Initiative, and EIT RawMaterials, and funded by the European Union.

During the five-day programme, more than 900 registered participants from multiple countries followed the lectures and exchanged ideas on DeepTech, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.

Our Centre had the honour of presenting “The Role of the WSDAC, C2C under the auspices of UNESCO, in Promoting New Technologies in the Water Sector.” Dr. Brankica Majkić-Dursun emphasized that climate change profoundly affects water resources management by altering precipitation regimes, increasing the frequency of floods and droughts, and reducing the predictability of water availability. These challenges demand adaptive, data-driven approaches for monitoring, forecasting, and decision-making.  She highlighted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play a transformative role by enhancing hydrological modelling, optimizing reservoir operations, improving early warning systems, and supporting integrated water resources management through real-time data analysis and predictive analytics.  The presentation focused on IHP-IX Priority Area 1 – Scientific Research and Innovation, as well as the activities of the WSDAC Centre and the Jaroslav Černi Water Institute in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals through the integration of new technologies (AI, ML, IoT, Digital Twin) in the water sector.

The online school provided an excellent opportunity for participants from different sectors to share experiences and strengthen collaboration between science and industry.,
