By decision of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, the Open Science Team in Serbia (TONuS) has been formed, consisting of distinguished members of the scientific and expert community of Serbia, four years ago. In accordance with the principle of universal openness of science and knowledge, as well as the principle of openness to the public and citizens (Article 6 of the Law on Science and Research of the Republic of Serbia), the competent Ministry adopted the Open Science Platform in 2022.
By the decision of Minister Dr. Jelena Begović, the director of the WSDAC Center, Dr. Brankica Majkić-Dursun, was appointed as a member of the Working Group for Open Science in Serbia (TONuS) in February 2024.
The meeting of the members of the Working Group for Open Science in Serbia was held on February 29, 2024. The meeting of the ToNUS working group was opened by the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technological Development, Dr. Jelena Begović.
The first step of the working group is to improve the Open Science Platform with the aim of adopting the upgraded version during 2024.
This Platform is based on:
- The Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2021-2025 “Power of Knowledge” 2021.
- Ministry’s Platform for Open Science, 2018.
- UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, 2021.
- The basic principles of open science defined by the European Commission in its documents, particularly in the Commission Recommendation (EU) 2018/790 of 25 April 2018 on access to and preservation of scientific information and the Guide to the Horizon Europe Programme.
- Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), 2021.
The Platform is intended for all participants in scientific research activities and pertains to the results of research projects and programs funded entirely or partially from the budget of the Republic of Serbia.
