The meeting gathered representatives of UNESCO, the ICPDR, UNESCO Category II Centres, UNESCO Chairs, and National IHP Committees, and was opened by the Ministers of Austria and Hungary, who highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in water resources research and the role of the UNESCO Water Family.

The consultation reaffirmed the role of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) as a key platform linking science, education, and policy, and strengthened cooperation among National IHP Committees, Category II Centres, and UNESCO Chairs in support of science-based and sustainable water management across the Danube Basin and beyond.

Serbia was represented by Dr Brankica Majkić-Dursun, Director of WSDAC; Prof. Dr Jovan Despotović, President of the Serbian National IHP Committee; and Prof. Dr Jasna Plavšić, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Water for Ecologically Sustainable Development.
