On 4th July 2022 in Paris, during its 1st meeting on open-ended Working Groups on IHP-IX Implementation, representatives of Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme and their members discussed the modalities of work at different levels (activities, outputs, priority areas) and elected respective chairpersons and vice-chairpersons for each working-group.
The meeting was held online and coordinated by IHP Secretary Abou Amani as a Director of the Division of Water Sciences and Secretary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP Programme).
Established Thematic working groups for the implementation of IX-IHP are: Science research and innovation (group 1), Water Education for industrial revolution including sustainability (group 2), Bringing the data and knowledge gaps (group 3), Integrated water resources management under conditions of global change (group 4), Water governance based on science for mitigation, adaptation and resilience (group 5), Hydrological systems, rivers, climate risk and water-food-energy nexus (group 6), Groundwater and human settlements (group 7), and Eco-hydrology and water quality (group 8).
Thematic working groups for the operational performance of IHP-IX were discussed among 166 members of UNESCO Water Family network. Prof. Dr Jovan Despotović, President of the IHP National Committee for Serbia and Dr Brankica Majkić-Dursun director of the WSDAC attended the meeting.
